Dr. Abdulla Ubaid is a senior General Surgeon with over 20 years of clinical, academic, and leadership experience in surgical practice. He joined Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in 2006 after completing his specialization in General Surgery and has since played a pivotal role in the advancement of surgical services in the Maldives.

He has received advanced training in minimally invasive surgery, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy, and is committed to the delivery of evidence-based and patient-centred surgical care. Appointed as Head of the Department of Surgery at IGMH in 2010, Dr. Abdulla has led the development of clinical standards, service expansion, and capacity building of surgical teams. His professional contributions extend to ADK Hospital and Tree Top Hospital, where he has supported the strengthening of surgical practices through multidisciplinary collaboration and quality improvement initiatives.

In recognition of his contributions to surgery and surgical leadership, Dr. Ubaid has been awarded Honorary Fellowships by the Indian College of Laparoscopic Surgery (2024), the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka (2025), and the Society of Surgeons of Nepal (2025).
