The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology provides assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation for communication, hearing, and swallowing disorders across all age groups.

The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology provides assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation for communication, hearing, and swallowing disorders across all age groups. Services include speech and language therapy, dysphagia management, alongside early intervention for children with language and developmental conditions, rehabilitation for adults with neurological and other head and neck conditions. The departmernt also provides diagnostic audiological services. The department works within multidisciplinary teams, supporting patient-centered care and caregiver education. It also contributes to student training, striving for state of the art infrastructure, research, and service development. Through screening, early intervention and awareness programs, the department promotes early identification, inclusion, and improved quality of life for individuals with communication and hearing challenges in clinical and community settings.


Speech- Language and Swallowing Services


The Speech, Language and Swallowing services in our department provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and evidence- based intervention for pediatric and adult patients with communication and feeding/ swallowing disorders provided by qualified Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs). Speech therapy is provided based on the diagnosis aimed at improving difficulties and addressing severity of specific speech/language/swallowing difficulties. Our primary focus is to enhance functional communication, promotes safe swallowing, and to improve overall quality of life.


Our key focused areas are:

  • Evidence based intervention following standardised clinical protocol.
  • Early identifcation and intervention following a holistic patient and caregiver model.
  • Support for high- risk infants and children.
  • Multi-disciplinary collaboration with ENT specialists, Pediatricians, Neurologists, Oncologists and other Allied Health Care Professionals.
  • Providing care focused on patients and their families with supportive counselling to promote overall well being.
  • Continuous monitoring and follow-up.
  • Rehabilitation of the individual to their fullest potential within the limits of their disablity.


Audiology Services


The Audiology service provides a comprehensive diagnostic services for patients across all age groups- from newborns to the elderly. The main objective is to early identification, accurate diagnosis towards the best aural rehabilitation. Our hearing evaluations utilize advanced technology to assess,address and differentially diagnose auditory issues.


Our key focused areas are:

  • Prompt early identification of hearing loss in newborns, children and adults.
  • Coordinated interprofessional approach with ENT specialists, Pediatricians, Neurologists, Oncologists and other Allied Health Care Professionals.
  • Patient and family centered care with counselling to improve quality of life.
  • Periodic monitoring and follow-up.
  • Facilitating aural rehabilitation services.
