Dr. Azzam is a senior ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeondedicated to advancing retinal care in the Maldives. He studied medicine in Russia, completed ophthalmology residency in Nepal, and pursued a vitro-retinal fellowship in Bangladesh with additional expertise in advanced Cataract and retinal surgery. Hes an alumnus of the APAO rising star and leadership developement programs, he is recognised for his clinical leadership in the APAC region. His special interests include retinal detachment, macular diseases, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders, and retinopathy of prematurity. Dr Azzam is also an active academic and professional leader, contributing to research training and regional ophthalmology organizations.
