Dr. Basma is a Senior Consultant Specialist Radiologist and Head of the Department of Radiology at IGMH/Dharumavantha Hospital, where she leads clinical governance and oversees both diagnostic and minimally invasive interventional imaging services. With over 13 years of consultant-level experience at the country's highest government tertiary centre, she brings deep expertise across multimodal imaging with a special interest in breast imaging, foetal ultrasound and neuroimaging.

Main focus areas /Key interests include:

●       Breast imaging: 3D mammography/ tomosynthesis for screening and diagnostic purposes with a focus on early detection, ultrasound-guided FNACs and biopsies, breast MRI and introduction of the hookwire localisation technique at IGMH/Dharumavantha Hospital.

●       Obstetric and fetal imaging: Anomaly and growth scans, foetal dopplers and fetal cardiac imaging.

●       Cross-sectional imaging: Advanced CT and MRI for oncology, neurology, and body imaging, including CT angiography

●       Abdominal and gynaecology imaging:: for intra-abdominal and pelvic pathologies

●       Minimally invasive interventional procedures - FNACs

Key Responsibilities

Leads the Radiology Department at IGMH/Dharumavantha Hospital, overseeing clinical operations, staff governance and service delivery across all imaging modalities. Actively contributes to national health policy, having presented recommendations on strengthening breast cancer screening /mammography guidelines and actively participates in multidisciplinary CMEs. Committed to multidisciplinary collaboration and integrating advanced imaging technology with patient-centred care.

She also contributes to the education of junior doctors, MBBS students and interns.
